A MESSAGE FROM RACHEL
Hi everyone, my name is Rachel Luna and I am the athletic trainer at Asheboro High School. I started working for Randolph Health Athletic Training in June 2025. This is my first full-time job as an athletic trainer since graduating college.
I graduated from Asheboro High School in 2019, where my involvement in sports first introduced me to athletic training. It wasn’t until I experienced an injury my senior year that I gained firsthand insight into the vital role of an athletic trainer. I was immediately fascinated by the range of care and support they provide and I quickly realized that athletic training was the ideal career path for me.
In 2023, I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Appalachian State University (roll neers!!!). I received my Master of Science in Athletic Training in 2025 also from App State. During my time as a graduate student I completed clinical rotations with Lenoir-Rhyne University Football, App State Track & Field and Wrestling, Winston Salem State University Football, and Avery High School.
I became an athletic trainer because it’s the perfect combination of helping people while also being a part of the sports atmosphere. Words truly can't express the amount of joy I feel working with AHS athletics. I have so much love for Asheboro and giving back to this community is so rewarding.
I love spending time with my loved ones. In my free time you can catch me hanging out with my family playing pickleball, volleyball, or tennis. I also love a good movie night with snacks!
I’m so proud and honored to be a part of the AHS Blue Comet family and a member of Randolph Health Athletic Training!
